Leadership Team

In a career spanning more than 20 years as a marketer, business development executive and general manager, Mark has held key leadership positions, including President and General Manager at Ameritech – now part of AT&T, as well as Dell and Microsoft. Having been a senior leader at leading hardware, software and telecommunications companies, Mark has an exceptionally well-rounded view of business ecosystem design and management and the nature of the way technology is shaping our world.

Mark worked in health care early in his career at the Boston Consulting Group where he encountered early end-to-end patient management thinking and helped to structure a relationship between Mayo clinic and a new PPO provider.
Skilled at identifying adjacent markets for business growth, as a corporate development executive, Mark has created over $1B in new venture revenue via acquisitions and alliances. Notably among these was Ameritech’s entry into the field of security monitoring which resulted in Ameritech becoming the number two player in that industry.

As Vice President of Marketing for Dell’s Small and Medium Business division, Mark was responsible for over $8B in revenue and a $350M marketing budget. During his tenure, he and his team reduced marketing cost per unit sold by more than 50 percent, while nearly doubling share and improving brand perception. He also created Dell’s Solution Provider Direct program which the Wall Street Journal called “a beautiful strategy.”

In his role as a GM, Mark has led multi-billion dollar business units with thousands of employees including Dell’s US Consumer Systems business and served as CEO of Supercircuits, a Carlyle Group portfolio company which was twice named to Inc. Magazine’s list of fastest growing companies in America. As SVP of marketing with Ameritech, Mark was one of a team of a dozen expatriates who turned a $4B stake in newly privatized European telco Teledanmark into $10B. As a result, he is intimately familiar with successfully managing both small and large scale organizational change.

Originally from Zimbabwe, Mark has an undergraduate degree with Highest Distinction from the University of Minnesota and an MBA from Wharton. He has been recognized by B to B Magazine as one of the top 15 Direct Marketers in the US.

An experienced executive with a rich background in consulting, sales and marketing spanning three decades, Bob is a veteran at building strong relationships with thought leaders and leading corporations and delivering step-level operational and financial improvement projects for clients across multiple industries. He began his career with IBM sales and marketing where he was consistently recognized with sales and performance awards. Subsequently, he rose through the IBM management ranks, gaining valuable marketing and general management experience along the way.

Bob migrated to Consulting Sales in 1989 as an Officer at Gemini Consulting, and later CSC Index, PriceWaterhouse Coopers, and Accenture, contributing several hundred millions of dollars in consulting revenue. At Gemini, he teamed with other Business Development Executives to develop a structured sales process for a professional services company. A few of his early successes were with Abbott Labs, Baxter, NCR and Bethlehem Steel.

After being recruited by Jim Champy at CSC Index, Bob collaborated with thought-leaders such as Peter Drucker, Michael Porter, Michael Tracey, and Robert Kaplan, and pioneered dozens of successful reengineering engagements in the US. As the North American sales leader for Index, he saw their revenue grow from $25M to $250M in 5 years. At Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), Bob was part of the European Theatre leadership team and a member of the PwC Marketing Counsel, while also leading three of PwC’s largest accounts. In addition, Bob has held partner-in-charge roles at Cigna and Cisco Systems.

Bob continued his Health and Life Sciences experiences at Accenture as a member of the Payer practice, working with several large payer organizations selling and delivering case management, enrollment, patient management and outsourcing solutions. He was a Client-Partner in Accenture’s Health and Life Sciences Practice with responsibility for Humana and BCBS, including a partner-in-charge position at Humana in Louisville, Kentucky where he worked until his daughter passed away from Hodgkin’s disease in 2007, a personal crisis that came with an 8 year unwanted fellowship with various facets of healthcare. It ignited an ongoing passion to be part of the solution in reinventing healthcare in the US.

Bob has an undergraduate degree in business from Western Michigan University and a master’s degree in Urban Education from the University of Michigan.

A versatile consulting executive, Jim brings over 40 years’ experience in the high technology and business process consulting domains to this role.   His 17-year tenure at IBM included executive positions in sales and marketing, practice leadership in IBM Global Services, and launching a consulting joint venture with Ernst & Young.  He led multiple industry practices at Cap Gemini, and as a partner at PWC Consulting, he was a key member of the partner team that launched the PWC Client Relationship Management program to develop and expand relationships with the firm’s top 200 clients worldwide.

Jim specializes in developing deep relationships with new client executives, identifying critical issues and proposing solutions, as well as extending and expanding relationships with existing clients.

Recognized by BtoB Magazine as one of the top 15 Direct Marketers in the US, Bob Gutermuth founded Dialog in 2005 with a disruptive model that combined top-tier consulting together with digital agency execution.

A 14-year veteran of Dell, Bob served as an executive director in Dell’s Public Sector Division, a $9B division focused on serving education, government, and healthcare customers. In this role, he led the marketing strategy and marketing communication teams’ direct marketing efforts, including business planning, developing market expertise, database marketing, and building programs that increased Dell’s value proposition and enhanced customer relationships. Bob’s team was nationally recognized as providing best-in-class strategies for creating customer relationships while driving industry-leading ROI.
